Self-Esteem:
Self
Esteem is basically the opinion of how you
see yourself. There are ranges of self esteem from high
self esteem to low self esteem and then everywhere
in between. The best is the first. That is because
high self-esteem means you love and appreciate
yourself for who you are and low self esteem
typically holds you back in your attempts to grow
and become successful.
Self-Esteem is probably one of the best
places to start when working on self
improvement.
Where did you get self-esteem? As a
child, you got it from your parents or whoever raised and
was important in your life. If they praised you for
your successes and achievements there is a good chance
you will have a positive outlook of yourself and life. If
you were raised by parents who were not very caring, or
not informed on the importance of building self-esteem
then you won’t see your positive qualities you may
end up with a low self-esteem.
When you become an adult your self-esteem
can come from your friends and your peers. Sometimes
how we feel about ourselves can be based on the
perception of people around you whether it be friends,
family, co-workers, superiors and others. If you can
ignore negative comments and feedback you will be
fine, don’t let words of people that are not
important to you affect your self-esteem.
